10 Healthy Beauty Tips

We have all wondered.. what are some beauty tips that can also help your health? Haven’t you ever heard the saying, “kill two birds with one stone?” Today will be the day you do just that! Let’s keep the inside as healthy as the outside.

1. Wash & Exfoliate

It is very important to wash & exfoliate your face after wearing makeup all day. First you need to use a makeup remover (wipes, pads, towels or oil) then use a cleanser to actually remove the dirt, oil, and residue from the makeup remover. Next step is to exfoliate, and you want to do this 1-2x a week. Exfoliating the skin is going to remove dead and dull skin cells. This will help give your skin radiance and also plays a factor in anti-aging.

2. Hydrate your skin

You want to keep your skin hydrated, especially in the Winter. During that time of the year your skin is very dry and flakey. It tends to feel tight and itchy. You’ll want to replenish your skin by using a moisturizer.

3. Brush & Floss Your Teeth

As we all know it is very important to take care of our oral hygiene! We don’t want to be walking around with bad breath and a mouth full of cavities. One, it doesn’t attract others and two, it can cause many health problems. So, make sure you are brushing 2x a day and flossing at least 1x a day. Another thing that people don’t realize is how they are getting cavities. You get cavities from sugar! If you are a daily pop drinker, then you are more than likely going to have cavities. Of course there are other factors to getting cavities. Such as, Xerostomia (dry mouth), cancer radiation, having children, plaque, major tartar build up or re-current decay under an old filling. So please invest in a good ELECTRIC tooth brush and floss! I prefer the electric over a manual because it is going to vibrate all the food/sugars off your teeth and it spins in a circular motion. It pretty much does the work for you!

4. Apply Sunscreen

Applying sunscreen to your body daily will help prevent wrinkles and dark spots. Not to mention SKIN CANCER. They say you should at least try to wear 50 SPF– which covers up to 98% of rays and apply it every two hours. (For most sunscreens)

5. Stay Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water daily will help you in so many ways!! First, health professionals say we should follow the 8×8 rule. Eight, 8 ounce glasses of water a day. It helps pretty much every part of your body but the ones that stand out to people are: having clear acne-free skin, helps with body cramps and joints, and helps flush out toxins. Another thing to consider when focusing on your hydration is the pH of the water you consume. It is known that cancer thrives in acidic environments which range on the pH scale from 1-6. So, of course we want our bodies to be the opposite of that which is alkalinity. Considering our bodies are made of almost 73% water it is very important that the water we drink is properly pH’d.

6. Take Vitamins/Minerals

Your body needs nutrients in order for it to function properly. If you do not have enough of say.. Calcium, Magnesium, etc, your body will be deficient in certain areas. Now, you can get most of these nutrients from foods, but there are many people that do not eat enough fruits, vegetables, meats, or dairy in a day. Therefore taking vitamins/minerals will balance this out. You should at least take a Multi-Vitamin daily.

If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, you will want to start taking a Pre-natal Vitamin. Health professionals say you want to start taking them at least 6 months ahead and even after pregnancy if you are breast feeding. This not only helps your body but also helps the baby with the development of the eyes, brain, hearing and many more functions of the body.

7. Exercise Regularly

It is important for you to do some type of exercise a few times a week, even if it is something as simple as walking. Your life expectancy improves, the risk of heart disease decreases, helps with blood sugar levels, helps with weight loss and has shown to help some with depression and anxiety. Exercise increases hemoglobin and improves cellular health which is a key role in anti-aging.

8. Eating Healthy

This goes hand in hand with exercising regularly. Of course you will loose weight overtime with working out but eating healthy plays a big factor in your health. Some benefits from eating healthy are: improved memory, feeling less fatigued, better moods, stronger bones, stroke prevention and can reduce the risk of getting diabetes. Diets can be so impactful on your health that many diseases can be treated or eased just with a change of diet.

9. Cuticle Oil

I love this one because applying cuticle oil to your nails daily will not only help your skin look and feel smooth but there are many other benefits. I love having my nails painted, but they don’t look as pretty is you have rough and dry cuticles. Cuticle oil repairs the skin and cuticle around the nail, protects the nail from trauma, and helps your nails GROW! So, not only is it good for the appearance of your nails but for your body too.

10. Less Washing Of Your Hair

Yes, I get it. Some of us have to wash our hair everyday. BUT not washing your hair has many benefits. You will keep your color lasting longer, you won’t have as much build up on your scalp, and your hair won’t be so dry & brittle. Sometimes if we wash our hair everyday, our hair tries to overcompensate by producing more oil. So, if you can, try to skip out on washing it everyday. Try every couple days or every other day.
