Hey Mama! If you are currently pregnant or just recently had a baby, you have came to the right place! I am listing my top newborn essentials that have helped us with baby Isla! The items I am listing below are ones you will want to add to your baby registry if you’re a new parent or even if you already have babies. Now of course newborn essentials are pacifiers, swaddles, bottles, sensory learning actives, and so on. The items I am adding are universal, a one-size fits all kind of must have essential items! I know adding items to your registry can be SO overwhelming, I am here to help ease the stress! If there is anything you need for that little one, it is on this blog post! Also most of these items are going to be from Amazon because it is the easiest for shipping, reading reviews, returning items and much more!
1. Muslin Burp Cloths
You can never have too many burp cloths, I am telling you we go through an ungodly amount and the laundry doesn’t stop unless you stock up! We have FOUR different types of burp cloths and we have found our favorite ones to be are the Muslin Burp Cloths. It soaks up the spit-up and are the perfect size. You can use them for hours upon end before they actually get soaked. They also have over 18k reviews! I would recommend buying 2-3 packs of them!
2. Hatch Baby Sound Machine
Another absolute must have item! We could not live without this Hatch Baby Sound Machine! Anytime she takes her nap or goes to sleep for the night we turn this on and it immediately cues her that it is time to sleep. I am not kidding you when I say she starts to close her eyes! We started this I want to say when she was 3 weeks old and have used it ever since. You can use the app on your phone, it has different light and music settings. We use the white noise and turn it up just enough to where she won’t be able to hear us in the kitchen or watching TV. This sound machine has over 28k reviews and it is on sale 30% off! You are going to want to add this to your shopping cart!
3. Hushh Travel Sound Machine
This is an item you will want to use for nap time when traveling, say you’re on a walk or in the car, grocery store, etc! You are trying to plan your life around your newest family member but some things just have to get done and it can be difficult trying to plan around nap time, wake windows, feedings, so on and so forth. This is where the Hushh Travel Sound Machine comes in handy! It has 3 different soothing sounds, a child-lock setting and an LED nightlight. We use the white noise and Isla falls asleep within minutes of turning it on. It is currently on sale and has over 15k reviews!
4. Flexible Stroller Fan
Not only is this portable Flexible Stroller Fan perfect use for a stroller or carseat but it was incredible for L&D. It is so easy to twist around your hospital bed rail and just take in all that wind while pushing! Highly recommend! We have used this a numerous amount of times and the battery life lasts forever! It has 3 different fan modes, comes with an LED setting for night-time use and over 26k reviews. With summer almost here you will want to add this to your list!
5. Dr. Brown’s Pacidose Liquid Medicine Dispenser
If you are needing to give your little one gripe water, gas drops, dye-free tylenol (after the age of 2 months) or any other liquid — this is a must-have! Dr. Brown’s Pacidose makes life a whole lot easier and safer for babies. This lessens the chance of choking on a liquid given from a regular syringe. Rather they can suck just like using a regular pacifier. Not to mention when they suck on it, the medicine bypasses the tastebuds and prevents them from spitting out the medicine. This comes with two pacifiers (0-6 mo & 6-18 mo) and is currently on sale.
6. Fine Tooth Baby Comb
So I know this is kinda funny putting a hair comb on an essentials list BUT I’m telling you this is the one to get. If you have ever heard of cradle cap on babies, I’m telling you it’s because of not brushing your little ones hair OR using the incorrect comb. A little story time… I was combing Isla’s hair religiously then we went to Florida for a couple months and I forgot her comb! We ended up grabbing a set from the store. After I would say 3-4 weeks of using it, I could see some spots on her head and I would gently pick at them. Well I immediately knew it was the start of cradle cap. I then started using this Fine Tooth Baby Comb and after her bath one night we brushed her hair and we saw a bunch of it lift from her hair and stick to the comb. We cleaned it all off her head in just that ONE session. It is a life saver! My hospital actually gave us this exact comb so your hospital might do the same! This one comes in a 6-pack because you can never have too many and has great reviews.
I hope these newborn essentials help you when thinking of what to add to your baby registry or even if you have already had your little one and are struggling in some of these areas. As always, I wish you the best of luck with your new family member. Enjoy every. single. moment because I am telling you they fly by! Isla is about to turn 5 months old and I just can’t believe how big of a girl she’s gotten to be. So strong, smart, independent, curious… ahhh I could just keep on going! If you have any other recommendations that you have found helped make life easier then comment them below!
